The “Community First Initiative” uses a 5-tier APPROACH to promote a healthier landscape that can support Violence Intervention, Problem De-escalation, Information Coordination & Community Relationship building.
Boots on grounds force that will navigate with scheduled & random patrols of hot spots, high traffic areas, emergencies & during certain neighborhood events.
Provide on scene support during crisis and emergency situations. We are not a policing force. Our “PRIMARY” goals are to calm resident hostilities, provide a voice of reason & add on-scene community familiarity during emergency incidents.
Early information gathering via local relationships with neighborhood liaisons that assist with real time efforts to curb violence by putting out fires before they happen. (Proactive)
Having a presence at community events, pop-ups, planned celebrations, holiday event, etc. This covers any event that triggers a positive interaction with the police dept, resource agencies and residents from the local area. (Relationships Breed Comfort)
Metrics monitoring – ability to gauge our activities to see what’s working and what pivots or adjustments that need to occur.
Information Sharing - (Such as Safer Communities) to make better decisions and programs changes based on the overall landscape needs.
Resource Navigation - individuals that may need Community Care Support, which can be assigning them a case managers or connection to resource partners from our community engagement rolodex.
